Eli Manning was drafted in the 2004 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers as number one overall out of Ole Miss. However, a draft day trade sent him to the New York Giants, who had the fourth overall pick, and Philip Rivers out of North Carolina State was also in that trade and a third-round selection in that same draft. Manning has had a very interesting NFL career in his life because he didn’t want to play for the Chargers and did for the Giants instead.

Do you know that the best online casinos are usually played by the most loyal NFL fans? Now, let’s see what are some of the most interesting things about Eli Manning’s football life.

His Rookie Season

Manning made his NFL debut in the first week of the 2004 regular season against the Philadelphia Eagles in a blowout game to replace Kurt Warner for a minute. As the season went on, they benched Kurt Warner, and Eli Manning made his first career start against the Atlanta Falcons. He started for the rest of the season and many other games later in his very interesting NFL career.

First Few Seasons As the Starter

From the years 2005-2008, they made it to the playoffs in four consecutive seasons as the starting quarterback of the New York Giants. They won the NFC East Title twice and were wild cards twice also. In the 2007 season, they were 10-6 during the regular season and made some noise along the way.

They defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Green Bay Packers on the road in the postseason. Lastly, the New York Giants pulled off the greatest upset in Super Bowl XLII history by defeating the undefeated New England Patriots 17-14. Eli Manning threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Plaxico Burress and also won the Super Bowl XLII MVP. It was set up by the David Tyree helmet catch.

This was one of the best moments in NFL history and also in Eli Manning’s career. The following season, they started 11-1 and limped into the playoffs at 12-4, before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Super Bowl Champions Once Again

After missing the playoffs in the 2009 and 2010 seasons, they made it again during the 2011 season as NFC East Champions with a 9-7 record. Eli Manning, during that postseason, currently holds the record for most passing yards in a single postseason at 1217. In the wild-card round, they defeated the Atlanta Falcons at home.

They then went on the road and defeated the 15-1 Green Bay Packers and avenged their loss to them earlier in the regular season. New York then went on to beat the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. In Super Bowl XLVI, the New York Giants defeated Tom Brady and the New England Patriots once again. Eli Manning won the MVP of the game and also made a ridiculous sideline throw to Mario Manningham.

2012-2019

Throughout the course of those next several years in his football life, Eli Manning made the postseason only once in the 2016 regular season. This was the season after Tom Coughlin was let go as the head coach of the New York Giants. Ben McAdoo was the head coach, and they went 11-5 and were a wild card team.

The season after, Eli Manning’s iron man streak was snapped after he got benched for Geno Smith because the team was a lost cause that season. 2019 was his final season as an NFL quarterback, and his record as an NFL quarterback was 117-117. It is going to be interesting to see when he winds up in Canton, Ohio, in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There is a lot of debate about whether or not he belongs in there despite winning two Super Bowl MVPs and having mediocre NFL seasons at various times. However, he finished with 366 career passing touchdowns in his NFL career.
